Improve your QR screenshot

Do not crop the corners

All three large corner squares and the outside blank border should remain visible.

Use the original screenshot

Messaging apps may compress images. Use the original file when possible.

Zoom before capturing

If the QR code is tiny, enlarge it on the screen and take a new screenshot.

Avoid editing the code

Do not draw, highlight or place text over any part of the QR pattern.

PRIVACY AND SAFETY

Your screenshot stays on your device

The scanner reads the screenshot locally in your browser. Still, check any decoded website address carefully before opening it, especially when the QR came from an unknown message or website.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Screenshot scanning FAQs

Can I scan a QR screenshot on the same phone?

Yes. Save the screenshot, open the scanner and select it from your phone's Photos, Gallery or Files. A second phone is not required.

Can I scan a screenshot received on WhatsApp?

Yes. Save the image to your device first. For better results, ask for the original image if WhatsApp compression makes the QR code blurry.

Which screenshot formats work?

The scanner accepts common PNG, JPG, JPEG and WebP images.

Why does my screenshot scan on one phone but not another?

Screen size, image compression, contrast and browser processing can differ. Use the original high-resolution screenshot and show the full QR border.
